Bronze Kuan Yin Royal Ease Statue

Carefully cast from resin and bronze powder, then hand painted for a subtle hint of color, our Bronze Kuan Yin Royal Ease Statue is a beautiful interpretation of the female bodhisattva of compassion.

Guanyin, as she is known in China, is associated with mercy, compassion, kindness, and unconditional love. Like her male counterpart (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva), she hears and sees all beings in need, granting them guidance and relief from their suffering.

The pose that Kuan Yin has assumed in this statue is referred to as "royal ease", or rajalilasana. The relaxed, open nature of the pose is meant to relay the pure and noble nature of a bodhisattva while simultaneously invoking a sense of comfort in those who look upon it. While not exclusive to her, royal ease pose is commonly seen in depictions of goddess Quan Yin.

"Royal ease" can also be used in reference to another similar pose (lalitasana) in which one foot is lowered to the ground, rather than resting at the same level as the other, as seen in our Royal Ease Kuan Yin Heart Sutra Statue.
