Rebuilding Nepal Through Trade

In the aftermath of the massive earthquake that struck Nepal in April 2015, DharmaCrafts launched a project to aid the victims of this tragic disaster. Due to your support of Nepalese artisans and Rebuilding Nepal through Trade, DharmaCrafts was able to donate $12,224.00 to relief efforts. We are very happy that together we were able to benefit the victims of this terrible disaster. A large percentage of the donation went to Roshi Joan Halifax's Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund (NERF) set up through Upaya Zen Center and to the Save the Children Fund.

Although our Nepal initiative has officially ended, we encourage you to support Nepalese artisans and their families by purchasing products marked with the prayer flag icon shown above.

Amitabha (Amida) Buddha Statue

This statue is the Japanese interpretation of Amitabha (Skt.) Buddha known as Amida Nyorai. It is very similar to the famous monumental statue of Amida Buddha in Kamakura, Japan. Amitabha Buddha is the Buddha of Boundless Light. He presides over a celestial paradise called Sukhavati, or "realm of Bliss" which is understood in Buddhism to be a state of consciousness. The hands are held in the "Mida-no-join mudra," a meditation mudra or hand gesture which is specific to Amida Nyorai and is rarely seen in Buddhist statues outside Japan. Made of bonded stone with bronze finish. 8 1/4" h
