The play of light and shadow is an aesthetic principle that permeates Japan's art and craft traditions. This Japanese flower vase, shaped like the moon, is traditionally hung in a tokonoma, or decorated alcove, at the time of the full moon. As moonlight enters the window, the vase casts a moon-shaped shadow on the wall, transporting the moon itself into the room.
Handcrafted of bamboo by Japanese artisans using traditional techniques. Silicone sealed to safely hold water.
